DMO Albania is implementing this project in partnership with the EU Policy Hub, financed by the European Union, the project will run for two years, starting on January 14, 2025, and concluding on January 14, 2027. The project primarily aims to preserve and promote Albanian intangible heritage through storytelling, creating artistic products, and educating young people with intangible heritage. Tirana Heritage Routes

Tirana Heritage Routes is a new initiative by DMO Albania, funded by Boost Balkans. The project started on 15 October 2025 and will run until 15 October 2026. This one-year project aims to preserve Tirana’s cultural heritage through a digital archive that will be open to the public, while also encouraging local economic growth through sustainable tourism. Using modern technology, drone footage, Google Maps, and video storytelling, the project will document the ancient walls, ruins, and historical layers of Tirana — from antiquity to modern times. All materials will be available on the Visit Tirana portal, helping locals and visitors rediscover the city’s heritage roots. Training Journalists to identify the polluters of Lake Ohrid

Lake Ohrid, Albanian side inscribed in UNESCO in July 2019, joining the other part of Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia, a mix heritage (1979-1980). In the same year, UNESCO threatened to list this property as heritage in danger, presented 19 recommendations to be addressed. In 44th session last year this warning was repeated. Albanian side has many problems especially with illegal fishing and construction, with waste management, detergents and mine leaks, which are polluting the lake..

Youth education with Tirana's Heritage

DMO ALBANIA in cooperation with Ministry of Education and Albanian Institute of Academy of Albanological Studies organized a series of trainings of Albanian students from High Schools in Tirana with the historical periods of Tirana and its heritage. 6 workshops were organized during 2023, with 180 students, accompanied with a visit in the Archaeological Museum. The last event was a study tour at Persqopi Castle in Tirana

Lobbying to Policymakers for the model of DMO in Albania

“Raising awareness and lobbying policymakers for the development model of DMOs in Albania”, supported by the IdeAL project of Co-Plan, the Institute for Habitat Development, funded by the EU.
