“Heritage is Our Brand” – 40 Stories in the Mosaic of Albanian Identity

From Queen Teuta to Mother Teresa, and from the Illyrian civilization to modern times, our platform “Albania-Heritage” will publish 40 unique stories as part of the “Heritage is Our Brand” initiative. This project aims to highlight the rich heritage and spirit of the Albanian nation, ensuring that it is passed down to future generations.

The stories have been crafted by researchers and experts in history, archaeology, and ethnology, incorporating legends, tales, traditions, and significant events that shape Albanian identity. From the ancient city of Antigone, a symbol of love and grief, to the myth of Cadmus connecting Illyria with the mythical world, each story adds a piece to our roots.

Key figures and themes include King Gent and the miraculous flower, ancient Illyrian beliefs, the Nymphaeum of Apollonia, and Via Egnatia. Furthermore, mythical elements such as the Dragon and Kulshedra at the Men’s Mosque illustrate the cultural folklore. Notable aspects of our heritage, such as Flija, the Fyejt of Gramsh, and the Kulla of refuge, are depicted as precious gems in the national mosaic.

This project also highlights places of historical and mythical significance like Mount Tomorr, Sazan Island, the rock tombs of Selca, Ulpiana (Iustiniana Secunda), and the codices of Berat, forming a strong bridge between our past and present.

The collection concludes with the figure of Mother Teresa, representing universal love rooted in Albanian heritage, alongside the concept of ‘Mother Albania,’ which embodies our national consciousness and collective memory.

Through folk games, craftsmanship, and traditional Albanian cuisine, we recognize that every aspect of our lives has its own story to tell. This is the Albania of legends, heritage, and an indomitable spirit.
