Cultural heritage, especially intangible heritage, is essential in understanding historical societies and preserving cultural continuity. In a digital age where technology is transforming every aspect of our lives, cultural heritage, especially spiritual heritage, faces a significant challenge: how to remain alive and relevant for future generations.
Amid rapid modernization, traditions, customs, and monuments representing our national identity risk being forgotten.
In this context, the DMO Albania project, which is funded by the European Union and collaborated with EU Hub Policy, aims to promote and keep our intangible heritage alive through technology and digitalization.
On March 6, the project “Heritage is our brand” will be presented, allowing you to learn more about the importance of our cultural heritage. The project will start with a scientific study, in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences, to identify 20-30 stories of our spiritual heritage, which will then, through a call for grants for artists, be turned into various artistic products, documentaries, animations, installations, visual exhibitions, etc.
The second year of the project is about education. History and literature teachers will present all these products and stories at a forum, and then students will compete to create their own stories.
The project will be launched on March 6, at 10:00, at the Tirana International Hotel’s “Blue Room” hall. It started in January 2025 and will last two years until January 2027.
This project aims to engage Albanian youth in preserving and promoting spiritual heritage through storytelling. Intangible heritage, which includes traditions, rituals, languages , and performances, is uniquely supported by community active participation. This form of heritage offers considerable educational potential, engaging citizens and the younger generation in the living heritage of their culture.
Below is the agenda of activities for the opening of the project:
