Tirana Photo Festival

Tirana Photo Festival is an annual photo festival organized by DMO Albania (Destination Management Organisation).

The premier event held from 1- 7 November 2018. The aim of this Festival is to put in the focus the art of photography through photo competition, exhibitions, seminars, photo tours and more.

The exhibition with 100 best photos of Tirana opened in the hall of National Historical Museum of Tirana, to celebrate the best of photography from Tirana. The exhibition was divided in three category: Nature, Street Art/People and Photo City.

The festival’s opening event was on November 1 at the hall of the National History Museum, where hundreds of guests, passionate photographers took part.

Among the 7000 photos posted on the social media of the tourism portal “Visit-Tirana.com”, on the night of November 1, 3 winners were announced.

First place winner for the city category was Ergys Baki; The second-place winner for the Nature category was Endi Bulku and third place winner for the category of people was announced Eva Shyti.

Photographers are professional and amateur, while the photos are made as with smartphones, professional cameras or drones. This is to give everyone the opportunity to become part of this festival to promote Tirana.

This project is designed by DMO Albania (Destination Management Organization), a non-profit organization that aims to promote Albania’s destinations. One of DMO Albania’s products is Visit Tirana, the most comprehensive tourist information portal of which are organized 7 social media contests.

In the framework of the festival is being held a 3-day workshop with a well-known Russian photographer. Young people have been very enthusiastic about learning about the basics of photography. A special place is dedicated to students of the 9-year schools who will visit the exhibition and will have a forum with them to discuss the art of photography.

An album with 100 photos of the festival was promoted on the opening day of the festival and will be very soon in Tirana’s bookstores. The album is titled Tirana 2018.
